Annette Stelmack is the founding principal of Inspirit-LLC. Inspirit-LLC is a sustainable design consultancy firm that instills courage and life by inspiring through a fusion of environmental stewardship and creativity. Annette brings over 40 years of experience in the building industry as a nationally recognized sustainable design leader, educator and author. She excels in programming, planning, design, research, documentation, specification and implementation of finishes/details and furnishings for multi-unit housing, residential, hospitality and spa projects. One of her specialties is addressing client’s multiple chemical sensitivities toward the highest level of indoor air quality by vetting products with extensive research and assessment. Annette co-authored the award-winning book ‘Sustainable Residential Interiors’, was a USGBC Colorado Chapter founding member, co-led the Greenbuild ’06 Denver Committee, chaired the USGBC Greenbuild Special Programs Working Group, served on the Healthy Home advisory board, and chaired the ASID National Sustainable Design Council and Colorado’s Green School Initiative.
Chemical Insights Research Institute (CIRI) of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to scientific research, publication, education, and communication on environmental exposures resulting from technologies and practices, their impact on human health and processes for reducing risks. CIRI provides actionable data and resources to help manufacturers, educators, healthcare providers, and consumers make informed environmental health decisions. Our work lets people around the world know what chemicals are in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the products we interact with every day. Our leadership role is to provide science or knowledge to implement improved practices, alternative product design, and changes that enable safer products and healthier environments.
